Team Leader Parks

About the role

The Team Leader Parks is responsible for leading a team of Park Attendants to perform maintenance of the City's parks with focus on the many parks within Willetton.

Reporting to the Parks Supervisor - Passive Spaces - South, this is a challenging, hands-on opportunity that ensures beautiful natural spaces, through well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing parks.

A snapshot of your new role:

  • Supervise a team of Park Attendants, ensuring high quality work
  • Action maintenance schedules, landscape plans and customer service requests
  • Carry out pre-starts and ensure safe and sustainable working practices
  • Accurately report and document time-sheets and daily activities
  • Garden and turf maintenance e.g. mowing, hedging, fertilising, weeding, top dressing and turfing
  • Operate and maintain small plant and equipment e.g mowers, edgers, whipper snippers, blowers, etc.

What you will bring to the City

  • Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent) and/or 5 years' proven experience leading a team in horticultural / agricultural operations
  • Well-developed team leadership skills and ability to foster team accountability and collaboration
  • Advanced knowledge of turf maintenance, plant identification and weed, pest, disease management
  • Advanced use of mowers, whipper snippers, blowers, edgers and related tools
  • Minimum C Class Drivers Licence
  • Basic Traffic Management Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)
