About the role

This opportunity is for a seasoned WHS Manager to take our Culture of Care program to the next level. Reporting to the Manager People & Culture you will demonstrate classic business partnering behaviours as you champion a maturing Work Health and Safety system and a positive workplace health and safety culture.

You will be leading a strong, committed team and working alongside the People and Culture team, where business partnering is how we do business. The People and Culture team works alongside business leaders and employees to create a welcoming and thriving organisation for a welcoming and thriving City.

In this role, you will know you have made a difference when:

  • You play to your strengths in influencing and business partnering, and you see your influence on City leaders and employees as they deliver consistently great safety performance.
  • You spend lots of your time focusing on identifying and planning for emerging risks and opportunities. You support your conclusions with a mix of data, experience and customer insights.
  • You co-create solutions, with City leaders and employees, with your team and the broader People and Culture team and these solutions are owned by the business.

Ideal Skills & Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety or a related field
  • At least 7 years' experience managing WH&S for a diverse organisation
  • Experience designing, implementing and evaluating WH&S programs including risk assessments, safety auditing and compliance, injury management and wellbeing initiatives
  • Sound people management skills to lead a high-performing WH&S team
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills in both written and verbal formats to influence and negotiate with a broad range of stakeholders
