Swimming Teachers - Expressions of Interest

The City of Canning aims to be a welcoming and thriving city, giving our people an opportunity to thrive through work that truly makes a difference! We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Swimming Teachers on a casual basis across both the Riverton and Cannington Leisureplexes.

The role reports to the Supervisor Swimming & Wellness and will take responsibility for assisting with quality swimming instruction, developing lesson plans, updating skills lists and maintaining attendance records. Depending on qualifications and experience, applicants will have the opportunity to deliver a range of swimming lessons, including baby and toddler program, pre-school program, school age program, lifesaving programs, CALD programs, adult programs and squads.

The roles we have available are casual in nature, and if successful, you may be assigned to a particular class for a 10 week program in line with school terms. We have some shifts available on weekday mornings (9:00am to 11:55am), weekday afternoons (3:30pm to 6:25pm), weekend mornings (8:25am to 11:55am) and weekend afternoons (12:25pm to 3:20pm). The start and finish times may vary depending on the number of enrolments received for the coming term, and there may be additional shifts available outside of these times.

  • $27.29 per hour + 25% casual loading + 10.5% super

Applicants will have a current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Water Safety qualification as a minimum, and other AUSTSWIM qualifications will also be looked upon favourably, such as Infant and Preschool Aquatics, Access and Inclusion and Teacher of Adults. The right applicants for the role will also have a current Working with Children's Check, a current resuscitation certificate and a current satisfactory National Police Clearance. The successful applicants will enjoy teaching both children and adults, and they will enjoy working in a collaborative team setting focussed on providing a high quality and consistent swim school program.
