Occupational Therapist

The City of Canning aims to be a welcoming and thriving city, giving our people an opportunity to thrive through work that truly makes a difference! We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join us on a permanent, part time basis for 1 day per week.

The role reports to the Manager Residential Facility (Canning Lodge) and will be responsible for performing assessments, planning and implementation of individual-based activities to aged care residents. The successful applicant will be assessing and evaluating the functional, cognitive and perceptual function, and the psychological and cultural well-being of residents on a regular basis with the goal of maximising quality of life.

  • 16 hours per fortnight, required on Mondays or Fridays
  • $36.53 - $38.09 per hour + 10.5% super

Applicants will have a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and must have a minimum of 1-2 years' experience working in an Aged Care environment, as well as a current satisfactory National Police Clearance. The right applicant for the role will have a genuine interest in working with the elderly and a strong understanding of the requirements entailed in providing occupational therapy services to the elderly. They will have the desire to be a collaborative team member and have effective time management skills and well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The successful applicant will have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop a person-centred approach to care delivery.
