Youth Development Officer

The City of Canning has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Youth Development Officer to join us on a permanent, full time basis.

The role reports to the Leader Youth Development and Programming, and will work with the Youth team to support and facilitate the development and delivery of youth programs and initiatives that will provide opportunities for learning, development, support and significant positive change in young people within the City. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to bring their innovation, creativity and collaboration to the role through the design and development of programs and partnerships that address local youth needs in line with the City's Learning City Strategy and Strategic Community Plan.

  • $72,202 to $75,271 per annum + 10.5% super

Applicants will have tertiary qualifications in youth, community development or a similar area, combined with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a youth development/engagement or similar role, as well as a current C class driver's licence, Working with Children's Check and satisfactory National Police Clearance. The right applicant for the role will specifically have experience in engaging with youth focused service providers and stakeholders, as well as experience working with young people from diverse and complex backgrounds, with knowledge of youth issues and best practice youth work and youth development principles. They will have strong research, planning and project management experience and demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate initiatives, with excellent organisational skills to keep on top of multiple projects. The successful applicant will enjoy working in a collaborative team setting, have an excellent work ethic and strong focus on empowering young people within the community.
