The City of Canning has an exciting opportunity for Park Attendant to join us on a permanent, full-time basis in a role dedicated to operational mowing and horticulture maintenance to make Canning a welcoming place to live and visit.
The role reports to the Passive Spaces Supervisor and will be responsible for the care of established landscapes and natural environments and contribute to maintenance programs within the City. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on secondment in other Parks teams and participate in training to develop additional skills.
The role will include mowing of turf areas using turf maintenance equipment, including out-front/zero turn mowers, edgers and brush cutters; horticultural garden and turf maintenance tasks, including litter/waste removal, fertilising, top dressing, turf repairs, planting and plant care and weed care; as well as apply chemical to control weeds, pests and diseases.
- 9 day fortnight - 1 weekday off each fortnight!
- Start at 6:30 and be finished work by 3:30pm each day
- Access to gym memberships at the Cannington and Riverton Leisureplexes
- $1,141.13 per week + 10.5% superannuation
Applicants will have an LR driver's licence, a basic worksite traffic management certification, white card and current (within 6 months) satisfactory National Police Clearance. The successful applicant will also ideally have a Horticulture qualification and tickets in chainsaw operation and forklifts. More importantly, the successful applicant will have the knowledge and experience in the use of small plant operations, turf maintenance and amenity horticulture. This will include having experience or knowledge of mowers, edgers, brush cutters, blowers and hand tools; as well as mowing and edging, tree planting and maintenance, pruning, fertilising, plant identification, weed and pest identification, treatment application for control of various turf weeds, pests and diseases The right applicant will have a strong commitment to safety in the workplace, with knowledge of safety issues in this environment, and they will have an excellent work ethic and dedication to improvement.
